If Your Christianity Is Boring, You’re Doing It All Wrong

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”Ephesians 1:3 (NASB)

I’ll never forget talking to this dude in Florida who was one of the most lost and arrogant people I’ve ever met in my 59 trips around the sun. It was truly stupefying. He was homeless, jobless, and toothless. He had bounced in and out of jail and yet, he said Christianity is for cripples and losers and that he’d “tried Jesus” and Jesus made no difference in his life. To wit, I laughed out loud. I don’t know what he “tried” but it was not the Resurrected Son of the Most High God who reigns as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Contrary to that wizard, Paul says the Christian, in Christ, is insanely blessed and radically altered leaving the redeemed person far from being a crippled loser. Matter of fact, the apostle states in just a few verses in Eph 1:3-13 that the believer is . . .

Blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
Chosen, by God, from the foundation of the world.
Predestined to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
Favored and lavished upon with God’s grace.
Redeemed through His blood and forgiven of all wrongdoings.
Sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. By the way, that’s the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead.

Can you say, “Boom?”

Therefore, dear Christian, you are an extremely blessed dude or dudette. You’re far from being a po’ crippled loser. You’re a veritable spiritually rich demon-threatening machine that’s loved by the Godhead, empowered by The Holy Spirit, with an epic purpose here on earth and in eternity to boot. If your Christianity is boring, you’re doing it all wrong.
